Recently got back from the VaynerMedia 5 year anniversary retreat, or as Ive just started to call it: that time I found a way to justify pop, lock, & dropping it to Wannabe by the Spice Girls at a barn party while sandwiched between a keg and a copywriter wearing what can only be described as an oversized mascot-like goose headdress, and I have to be honest: I had a great time. Upon reflection, four Advil, and some half-assed prayer to any deity who would indulge me, I think the best part about the whole experience is that I left feeling very much like a part of a very special family. And I know this not because of the endlessly inspiring speeches we heard or the sheer volume of the experience we had so meticulously planned out for us, but I know this because at 2 oclock in the morning some of this family watched me attempt to sweet talk a Holiday Inn Express concierge into searching Google Maps to find where the nearest 24 hour McDonalds was so that I could get some chicken nuggets. Friends wouldnt watch you do that to yourself. Coworkers wouldnt forget to say that might be embarrassing tomorrow. Only a family would let an encounter like this play out, and I am very grateful for mine.
