Recently my statuses have steered away from the subjects of health and fitness, so I thought I would bring it back by solving a few myths for you guys. - protein shakes on their own do not make you lose weight, or gain muscle. They are a supplement, designed to do exactly that - supplement - a healthy lifestyle with exercise and nutritious eating, as well as enough rest and low levels of stress. - creatine does make you retain water, but it is intramuscular (inside the muscle cell). No, it will not blow you up like a balloon. The main role of creatine is its use in the regeneration of adenosine tri phosphate to be used for short bursts of energy. - Fat is bad - fats are required for many different bodily functions, namely hormone functions. Even saturated fats are coming out as not being as bad as once labelled. Omega 3 & 6 are main fats we should be focusing on, but a balance of all nutrients are essential. - Carbs are bad - carbs have had a bad rap lately, but play a big role in the human body, especially when exercising frequently. The difference between simple and complex carbohydrates and how they affect insulin is the key here. Again, a balance is necessary. - weight training or cardio is better than the alternative. They both have their benefits, and work extremely well together to help you along your journey. Neither should be excluded, because they are both unique in their benefits. Any ones that you guys have heard that you want clearing up?
