Recently there have been many stories of impersonators of well-known Shaykhs -- including Imam Zaid Shakir & Hamza Yusuf -- reaching out on #Facebook to request phone numbers and then personally requesting donations. Most recently, there has been an aggressive campaign from #Malaysia & #Nigeria targeting Muslims and asking for direct deposits into bank accounts. We are addressing this issue to make all of you aware of this matter and also, to let you know that while we also regularly make calls to request donations and invite you to join our FB pages, we ask that you donate via our website, zaytuna.org or via check, made out to our U.S. based institution, which is regularly audited and subject to Federal regulation. Also, Shaykh Hamza regularly makes phone calls but are only calls of shukr and gratitude.
