Recently there was a case of Attempted Robbery reported at Clementi Woods Park. Arising from the case, officers from Clementi NPC have stepped up their efforts to prevent such incidents from reoccurring. The Ground Response Force (GRF) officers have increased their patrol at the said park especially during the hours of darkness. Community Policing Unit (CPU) officers have also put up the Crime Alert Board to alert the park goers to exercise vigilance. We would like to take this opportunity to remind members of public of the following preventive measures to avoid falling victim to Robbery; - Avoid wearing lots of jewellery and carrying large sums of cash - Do not show your cash or valuables in public - Avoid walking through dimly lit, quiet and secluded places - Carry a shrill alarm to sound for help - When returning home alone or late at night, arrange for a family member or trusted friend to escort you home - If you suspect that you are being followed, remain calm. Proceed to a crowded area or call the Police for assistance. - If you are confronted by a thief, stay calm and take note of his or her appearance, attire, height, or any other distinctive physical features if possible. Call for Police assistance only when it is safe to do so.
