Recipe of the Week! TAMALE PIE Serves 6 Filling 1 tablespoon olive oil or salad oil 1 pound ground beef 1 ¼ cups chopped celery 1 cup chopped onion 1 large green bell pepper, chopped 1 16-ounce can cream corn 2 8-ounce cans tomato sauce ½ teaspoon garlic salt 1 tablespoon chili powder 1 16-ounce can black pitted olives, drained Salt and pepper to taste Brown ground beef in oil. Add celery, onions and green pepper. Cook until vegetables are tender. Add cream corn, tomato sauce, garlic salt, chili powder, olives, salt and pepper. Cook 10 minutes. Butter a deep casserole. Add meat mixture. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Crust ¾ cup cornmeal ½ teaspoon salt 3 cups cold water Add cornmeal to cold, salted water. Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring constantly, until mixture thickens. Spread evenly over meat mixture. Bake for 45 minutes.
