Why not go to the same restaurant, watch the same movie, have the same meal and enjoy a bit of reminiscing? Could be anything, a movie, ice skating, laser quest, a sports event. It doesn’t matter what, so long as it’s something they love, and they have no idea that it’s coming. Turn the Phones Off A weird thing about life today is that you never seem to be out of reach of anyone, whether it’s work, your friends, your mum, or someone who wants to tell you that you may have been mis-sold PPI and could be entitled to some money. And that’s just people who might phone you- then there are emails, tweets, Facebook messages, etc. So why not, for one evening, agree to just turn everything off? Switch off your phone, unplug the landline, and spend an evening as if it’s just the two of you in the whole wide world. Go to the Beach- In Autumn! You know the trouble with seaside towns in the Summer? They’re full of people. Children, families and students are all taking up the best sunbathing spots, making you queue for ice cream and generally getting in the way. You want a proper romantic break in a seaside town? Go in the middle of October or November, when the sky is grey, the waves are steely and you can have the pier all to yourself! A Unique Gift There’s nothing like receiving a gift that is completely unique to you. If there’s a book they particularly loved as a kid but don’t have a copy of it, see if you can find one for them. Instead of getting them a piece of jewelry, try getting them some personalized jewelry. These are just a few options however. Nobody knows your partner like you do, and if you put your mind to it you will be sure to come up with something that will startle and delight them. Just remember to keep it a surprise!
