Record shot of a Greenshank on Rainfords Lagoon this - TopicsExpress

Record shot of a Greenshank on Rainfords Lagoon this morning. There were over 100 Dunlins in front of Sandgrounders and flighting about plus a single Ruff, six Snipes and what might have been three high-flying (Northern) Golden Plovers one in breeding plumage. This was at 7 30 just after Id opened the hide. As early openers will know you get birds really close to the hide first thing. Best to avoid the viewing slats and creep quietly in and get seated. No noise and no lenses (even camod) or fingers out of the windows. My cam was as always on a pod set back into the hide and not projecting therefrom. Orrible light conditions for photographt though. Birds inevitably notice you and shuffle further away. Once the hide noise at normal levels most birds take flight.
