Recording some film music today through Saturday with these two guys. On the left is a 1926 Czech violin (known in my family as The Red Fiddle) ordered brand-new from the Sears & Roebuck catalog when my paternal grandfather was 13 years old. It was my late fathers first violin. On the right is an instrument which had been owned by my great-uncle Alec McConnell (my fathers mothers brother) and which was my fathers favorite when he passed away fifteen years ago Saturday, on September 20th, 1999. Oddly, both of these instruments bear labels inside claiming that they were made by Antonius Stradivarius. I think there might be some fibbing involved. The recording session starts... well, right now.
