Recovering from holiday overindulgence?! This is a common theme amidst many of our patients! A few quick tips from Dr. Kathy our Naturopath for coping with the after-effects: 1. Get moving! Keep your metabolism up by continuing your exercise regime, however minimal. Try a 15-20 minute walk after dinner or get up early to squeeze in a quick run or weight session. 2. Stay hydrated! Have a water bottle with you at all times to help your body to flush extra toxins and keep your digestive tract moving. Drinking plenty of water before a big meal can also help normalize your appetite and prevent your from eating too much. 3. Love your liver! Your liver plays a crucial role in detoxifying your body and regulating your immune, hormonal and digestive systems. Give it a boost by starting your morning with lemon water and adding some liver-loving foods in your diet such as bitters (kale, rapini, radicchio), crucifers (broccoli, Brussels sprouts), alliums (onions, garlic) and root vegetables (carrots, beets).
