Recruitment Solution Found: National Meet the Firms Week helps accounting students and employers create the perfect career match Recruiting top talent is among the highest priorities for firms. According to a July AICPA report, accounting graduates are more in demand than ever. A record 40,350 accounting graduates were hired in 2012, and 89 percent of firms that hired graduates expect this year’s number to be equal or higher. The largest international accounting firms hire nearly one-third of all accounting graduates, and large corporations are aggressively recruiting them like never before. This trend has left local, regional, and mid-market firms wondering how they can adapt their talent acquisition strategies in an increasingly competitive market. The upcoming National Meet the Firms Week, presents a great opportunity for firms of all sizes to compete on equal footing for top accounting recruits. Running from September 9 – 13, National Meet the Firms Week is a free, virtual event for accounting firms, companies, and students. CollegeFrog, the platform on which National Meet the Firms Week is based, combines an accounting specific job board with a thoughtfully designed prospect management tool. Their focus is to provide an efficient job network for accounting students and employers. During National Meet the Firms Week, employers can build a profile, post a job, and gain access to CollegeFrog’s entire student user database. Participating employers will automatically gain access to the resume of every participating student in the state of Mississippi. The event is free from start to finish, and no future financial commitments are required. The prospect management tool, also built exclusively for the accounting industry, allows employers to observe and collect full resumes, transcripts, and profiles. Employers can also filter applicants and search results by factors like GPA, target school, and graduation year. The tool also enhances on-campus recruiting, allowing employers to communicate and schedule meetings with prospects in advance of on-campus events or conferences. The software is further designed to help employers keep better track of recruits. For instance, if an employer is unable to hire a promising candidate during the initial recruitment period, they can easily find the recruit on the site and get back in touch once an additional opportunity becomes available. Above all, CollegeFrog touts its commitment to finding the right fit for every company. Their goal is to alleviate the headaches of traditional recruitment while helping to connect employers with candidates who the right fit for their firm. Each day during National Meet the Firms Week, top industry professionals will host educational webinars on a variety of accounting-specific topics. Partners and clients will be hosting a “Right Fit” webinar series relating to the Big 4, corporate employers, and mid-market firms. Two additional webinars will cover the CPA Exam and the use of social media to launch a career. Simply visiting more campuses is not an ideal solution for mid-market firms. The costs of travel and billable time lost are rarely an option. Campus recruitment is notoriously labor-intensive, involving large investments of time for data entry and administrative tasks like organizing candidates from multiple schools. National Meet the Firms Week represents students from 850 schools across the US. The event is promoted to professors across the nation and directly to students through social media outlets like CollegeFrog’s Facebook and Twitter accounts. National Meet the Firms Week is designed to help midmarket firms gain a stronger voice and succeed in hiring top interns and entry-level talent. “In building CollegeFrog, we interviewed over 300 local and regional firms,” says James Hosman, co-founder. “We discovered that employers want to reach more great talent without having to incur costs of traveling, and they want a simple application to manage their candidate pipelines. We believe technology and the internet can achieve both of these goals for employers of all sizes.” “We think there is a tremendous opportunity to help students find their right fit in the accounting profession, while giving firms an inexpensive way to reach students across the state and the nation,” says Hosman. “With National Meet the Firms Week, students, professors, and firms alike will be much more aware of the opportunities at regional and local firms.” For more information, check out MeetTheFirmsWeek
