Recurring road accidents make one recall a campaign (with a suitable comics series) by the Railways, appealing “travel if you must” during the Second World War days, for the priority of military movements. With our roads as killing fields, (latest :Palani, 27 Nov), social consciousness towards restricting road trips for only the most essential purposes should be promoted, one dares to opine. It is heartbreaking to hear day in and day out about fatal accidents connected with pilgrimages, weddings, excursions, etc, in the prevaiing hazardous road usage culture.
