Red Bull Racing Spy talks about Sebastian Vettel ahead of Sebs last race with Red Bull - infiniti-redbullracing/article/spys-update-abu-dhabi ***** It is, of course, the end of an era as were saying goodbye to Seb after six glorious years (well, five glorious years and this one). He finally mumbled something earlier this week about going to some team or other down in the midfield. Will we miss him? Lets just say theres been a lot of man-hugs going around in the garage this week. Hes promised to write and weve promised to not let David Coulthard give him a wedgie live on television. Actually, much of this is for public consumption, Sebs not going for a while yet – hell be in the factory next week, so its all a bit premature having a tearful farewell with someone wholl shortly be fleeced by security in Milton Keynes to make sure the rubber dinosaur and the crayons in that cardboard box really are his, and hes not trying to steal a company stapler and a limited edition Star Wars Stormtrooper pitcrew helmet. Were going to miss Seb. Dany Kvyat seems like a pretty cool guy so were looking forward to working with him, but Sebs one of our mates. Itd be nice to say that weve taken the boy and shaped him into the man he is today – but the reality is that four-times World Champion Sebastian Vettel is almost indistinguishable from gangly Bambi Sebastian Vettel who rocked up at the end of 2008. Obviously the massive hoard of trophies adds a bit of confidence – nobody would attempt what Seb does at a karaoke without a bullet-proof amount of self-belief – but Seb hasnt stopped being Seb just because hes won a bunch of races. Hes one of us – admittedly an absurdly competitive one of us with a road car named after him, but still, one of the boys. But next year hell be one of them, dressed up like Father Christmas every week and pretending he really likes Espresso so strong you can stand a spoon up in it. Its difficult to know what thats going to be like – for us or him. Hell probably pop back in – we just hope its not at 80km/h for an unexpected pitstop. But thats later. First weve got a race to complete. Weve got to nail it and make sure Seb goes away knowing exactly what hes going to be missing next year.
