Red-tailed, or Red-shouldered Hawk (?) Im not sure ... but here it is ~ (Rockport-Fulton area - 5/12/14) ...spotted this hawk atop a tree just outside of right-of-way while driving along Hwy 35 feeder; had space to safely pull off shoulder and park; quickly contemplated lighting conditions (sun behind target, etc) turned camera on, extended lens to max (300 mm), quietly opened door opposite of target, slowly crept toward back of car, raised the camera and, as was to be expected, it was also watching me, and off it went. The camera was not set for a series so I had one chance of getting anything. ...didnt even look until processing pictures...and Voila ! I captured him - well, almost all of him -- back-lighted by sun and all. (Canon 70D on auto f6.3, 1/400 sec, ISO 1000)
