RedCat Recruitment is urgently seeking the services of a CONSTRUCTION FOREMAN for a Pietermaritzburg based company. JOB REQUIREMENTS / DESCRIPTION Matric / Grade 12. Relevant qualification/s would be an added advantage. Previous working experience as a Concrete / Structure Foreman ESSENTIAL. Would preferably suit a concrete/structure Foreman (more than a finishing/wet trades Foreman). Able to set out levels, datum’s, bench marks and profiles. Basic knowledge & understanding of earthworks. Thorough knowledge on how to operate a dumpy level ESSENTIAL! Be able to read off a plan and interpret drawings (both Engineering & Architectural drawings). Able to set out brickwork and all related wet work trades. Good understanding of steel reinforcing, bending schedules and all engineering requirements when working with reinforced concrete. Must be able to set out formwork for columns, beams, retaining walls slabs, etc. (knowledge of the Peri system would be of a strong advantage) Person will be required to get involved in the shuttering trades and be willing to use the tools. Must have an understanding on fitting a timber roof structure (won’t be required to do this himself but will require necessary skills and know how in order to inform /manage the sub-contractors responsible for installing the roof). Basic understanding of plumbing & storm water piping within a typical housing development. Previous staff management/supervision experience ESSENTIAL! (manage labour, issue verbal instructions and ensure that instructions are completed). Will be required to instruct, manage and coordinate subcontractors in their various trades. Basic understanding of the SHE Act and all related health & safety requirements and legislation. Administration skills, eg: Must be able to keep a Daily Attendance Register, maintain and issue a Site Instruction Book, complete requisitions for material required.
