Redbox has some good choices out right now. For horror fans, Curse of Chucky is actually a lot of fun. Its the best Childs Play movie since the original, bringing back an eerie sensibility and suspenseful quality--while its not the best movie, neither was the original. The storytelling was more premeditated than any of the other sequels (with Bride of Chucky a close second). Ultimately, Chucky is actually creepy again which makes it worth a watch. For Shakespeare fans, I finally got around to seeing Joss Whedons Much Ado About Nothing. Though Cori Rowe couldnt get into it (I love you bebe), I continued to watch it and had a very engaging experience. The raw quality lent to the movie with its minimalist sets, black and white cinematography, and beautifully produced soundtrack made it the most enjoyable modern Shakespeare interpretation Ive seen. (Couldnt get into Ethan Hawkes Hamlet and Leos Romeo & Juliet is only good in parts) The theme song to the movie Sigh No More is still echoing in my head--only Joss Whedon could direct the highest grossing movie of 2012 and turn around to make such a witty character piece. Great performances all around.
