Redmen Aussie Steakhouse coasted their way to victory against City Waratahs on Saturday, taking the game with a score of 42-35. The game was off to a slow start, with the ball moving its way up and down the court with every centre. The smooth centre court cooperation and fast feeding into the circle by the Waratahs rivalled the long, strong passes and accuracy of the Redmen, displaying two very adverse playing styles within the one match and making for a great game. Improved defence on behalf of Redmen players Kelly Saye and Naomi Evers heavily contested Waratahs shooters Nicola Darke and Heidi Dalton, enabling Steakhouse to coast their way into a secured lead. With this boost of confidence, the momentum of the Redmens increased considerably, particularly with Kelle Murphy’s efforts to reach for every available loose ball up and down the court, leading her team to a well-earned victory. A special mention should be given to Waratahs player Kerry Morris, who made her debut back into the A-grade competition and came back from her netball retirement with a bang.
