Reds boss Brendan Rodgers has confidence that the level of quality within the Liverpool squad can prove to be an extra incentive when the club attempts to acquire new players. The Irishmans team leapfrogged Arsenal into first place in the Barclays Premier League with a 3-1 home victory against Cardiff City on Saturday, with Luis Suarez scoring twice and creating the other goal for Raheem Sterling. Another virtuoso display by the Uruguayan followed news the previous day that the No.7 had committed his long-term future to the Reds by signing a fresh contract at Anfield. Rodgers believes the presence of world-class stars among his group not only pays dividends on the field, but should also strengthen the managers ability to lure more talent to Merseyside. Good players want to play with good players, he told Liverpoolfc following the win over Cardiff. When youve got a world-class player like Suarez, and weve got a number of other young players improving, our selling point is the team and the philosophy. Our success here will be based around the team and how we work. Certainly when youve got players of that esteem - Steven Gerrard and Luis Suarez, that ilk - top players would like to play with those players. Suarez is always at a very high level and, again, was magnificent. He leads from the front, works, presses and is very clever in how he presses the ball. When weve got the ball, his creativity and invention is first-class. Two great goals again, good finishes. And he was very unselfish to pass to Raheem. A wonderful talent and yet again he showed why he is a world-class player. Sterling took full advantage of Suarezs assist to claim his fourth goal of the 2013-14 campaign, prompting Rodgers to suggest that the No.31 is emulating the performances of his early Reds career. The 40-year-old continued: He looks right back up to that level again, he is very direct in his running. One of the things were talking to him about improving his game is to arrive with goals. As a wide player in a 4-3-3, youve got to be creating goals and scoring goals. Another good finish from him, but he also had to get up there and support - which was important. Reflecting on the match with the Welsh outfit, a fourth successive Premier League win and sixth straight victory on home soil, Rodgers took encouragement from two different factors. He explained: There were two elements; in the first half, our football was exceptional - we got three goals and created numbers of chances. In the second half, we werent as fluid as we were in the first, but we had to show a little bit of resilience at times to defend a lot of direct balls into the box. We stood up to that.
