Reef Resilience Webinar: Assessing Coral Reef Resilience in Saipan, CNMI Site 2_FINAL Photo: Jeffrey Maynard Join Dr. Jeffrey Maynard of the University of North Carolina Wilmington, and Steve McKagan of NOAA National Marine Fisheries Service as they discuss the results of the first field-based implementation of a new framework for assessing the relative resilience of coral reef sites. Their team surveyed 35 fringing reef sites near the island of Saipan in the Northern Mariana Islands. The framework they used is based on a recent paper that suggests eleven variables be evaluated to assess resilience. The results they will share include maps of resilience potential generated for managers, and they will describe the rationale used to make a series of management recommendations.
