Referee, Andre Marriner, who sent off the wrong Arsenal player, Kieran Gibbs, in the 6-0 whitewash by league leaders, Chelsea on Saturday will on Monday discover if he would be replaced in the coming Premier League weekend matches. Marriner, who awarded a penalty after Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain had handled the ball in the area, had apologised for the error-in-judgement while attributing the mistake to mistaken identity. Referees authority, the Professional Game Match Officials Limited said in a statement: Incidents of mistaken identity are very rare and are often the result of a number of different technical factors. Whilst this was a difficult decision, Andre is disappointed that he failed to identify the correct player. He expressed his disappointment to Arsenal when he was made aware of the issue.
