Reference Number: 2772 Pitlochry Festival Theatre are pleased to begin casting for their forthcoming production of It’s A Wonderful Life, a musical based on the Frank Capra film and the original story by Philip Van Doren Stern. Book, music and lyrics by Thomas M. Sharkey. Director: John Durnin Designer: Charles Cusick Smith Musical Director: Jon Beales Choreographer: TBC Rehearses: Monday 4th November 2013 Opens Friday 29th November 2013 Closes: Sunday 22nd December 2013 All rehearsals and performances will take place in Pitlochry. Please note: a Sunday matinee performance is scheduled in each of the 4 performance weeks. A maximum of 8 performances per week is scheduled. A cast of 13 is required for this production, which will be performed with a separate band of 6. Characters double as the citizens of Bedford falls. All cast require moderate to good dance skills. Casting requirements as follows: Mary Hatch Bailey: playing age early 30s, funny, intelligent, passionate, George’s on/off girlfriend who becomes his wife and confidante – the best thing that ever happened to George (the Donna Reed role in the movie). Excellent mezzo or soprano. Mother Bailey: playing age late 40s to mid 50s, George’s lovable, wise and strong-willed Mother - a widow too early in life. Mezzo. Violet Bick: playing age late 20s/early 30s, a flirtatious, fun-loving contemporary of George and Mary’s, who loves George almost as much as Mary does. Very good mezzo or soprano. The closing date for submissions is Monday 19th August 2013. Submissions received after this date will not be considered. If you would like your CV and photo to be returned once casting is completed, please enclose an appropriately sized sae. Auditions will be held in London and Edinburgh, beginning w/c 2nd September. Anyone called for audition – usually a week’ notice will be given – will be asked to sing and to either read from the script or bring a short piece of their own choosing, or both.
