Reflecting back on last Mondays inspiring marathon, we want to share a heartfelt account from our concierge, Frank: “The sensitive memories of last year’s marathon returned quickly [last] weekend. For many, they will never leave. The Saturday morning shift at the concierge desk was only minutes old when I was joined by my friend and colleague Natalie. She commented about a pin on our desk. It read “M 8 R.” “That was Martin Richards’ age,” she said. I was inspired to make the pin in old school cut and paste style like the sign that Martin had made that declared “stop hurting people”. A concierge always needs a passion. This Easter, Patriot’s Day, and Marathon Weekend, my passion is Martin, all the victims and their families. Natalie caringly asked if she could place the pin on my lapel. I was honored to say yes. A moment later, a couple came to our desk. It was no later than 7:15 a.m. We made eye contact. It’s a look that stirred a memory. Cy was at my desk a short time after the blasts last year. Her husband, Blythe, ran the marathon and was missing. Through the grace of God, good fortune, and a few phone calls, I helped them reconnect. This year they’re back! That’s loyalty. Cy and Blythe came by first thing to say hello. It was a comforting and kindhearted act on such an emotional day. I am proud to have made a difference.” -Frank
