Reflecting back today on growing up on the hill and all my friends who are no longer here today: CB Corey Bess, the legendary basketball goal out front, and the latest video games, your house was the spot to be; Ryan T, I called you super clean rocking yourTommy Hilfiger polos, hard to believe you are gone; Henry Andrews, my teammate you had a lions heart and a mouth that talked a lot of trash...lol. i miss battling with you homey! Corey Davis, I remember having to hide stuff from you because you would always act like it was yours..lol; Vanessa Jones, a quiet, loyal and beautiful friend; Eric Anderson, my homey we had some battles in the yard playing basketball on 37th street in inwood where I was in awe when you came out with the Allen Iverson underleg crossover, it hurt to see such a quiet soul be taken so unfairly. Alfonso Jones, I remember all of us chilling in the hallway in middle school with our cross colors, gheri curls and jodeci boots singing "and if I ever fall in love again" by Shai; Cootuh Pop; I missed those 25 cent flips and yellow moon pies. My uncle Junior, I miss hearing those crazy stories that always began and ended with that trade mark laugh and stance. Rev. Greg Mason, I miss the talks and deep conversations at the table or sitting in the living room. And to my Granny, Mrs. Lillie Mae Campbell, you were the neighborhood watch party, you knew everything that went on on 710 Hobbs street or what was later renamed New Hope Street because of how bad the streets were. Words cannot describe how much I miss you. Those streets on the Hill in auburndale and in in Inwood, has forever changed me. I am thankful I made it out of there alive, but my heart mourns for those who did not.
