Reflecting on my Tuesday, NYC trek. Pissed at myself for not - TopicsExpress

Reflecting on my Tuesday, NYC trek. Pissed at myself for not getting out my head and giving my best stuff. Traffic is no excuse. I coulda been better prepared so the trvial things didnt get in the way. Need to work smarter & harder! C Ds dont want or care to hear excuses. They want to see performance ready auditions/callbacks and there are plenty of hungry Actors who come that way & they BOOK the gigs. There is very little room for error when you get to a certain level of the casting process. Not booking most gigs is part of the biz, which I accept but when I fail to provide them with the most accurate representation of myself, I feel, kinda stupid. Buy hey, Ive booked more than a few gigs where I was baffled, because I felt, it wasnt my best stuff (and maybe, thankfully they looked beyond that) and weve all had auditions, where we knew, in our heart of hearts, we connected with the script and nailed the audition but then, nothing :(. Although, I can live with those instances because when you give your best stuff and they dont bite, its out of your hands. As the wise Bryan Cranston said, Control the things you can, do your job or audition, and go home. I share this in hopes it helps someone (and also to vent/ let it go!). ONWARD! Just finished our 10 am BatB, going to shoot a quick scene in an Indie film between shows, then back to the Arden for a 7 pm performance. Living the dream! Happy Friday facebook fam :) xo baw
