Reflecting on the day...A college friend messaged me today saying, I just heard. Its unbelievable. I appreciated that he was trying to sympathize with my feelings; to let me know he is with me and doesnt understand, either. Unfortunately, I have learned all too well that its simply not...unbelievable. Unbelievable is reserved for miracles and movies, where things that are impossible really can happen. Unfortunately Ive learned all too well, just as you have, that unbelievable doesnt apply to the words and actions of us people. Everyday we hurt, ignore, breakup, forget what we shouldnt, give up what we shouldnt, kill what never shouldve died and do what we never wouldve done...All these things, and more, are often described as being unbelievable by the ones who suffer as the result...But, sadly, we live in a world in which these types of actions are anything but unbelievable; they are common--and becoming more common...Theres little we can do to stop it, of course; if Jesus can remind us that we will have trouble in this world some 2,000 years ago, we should know itll happen, right? For me, then--for us?--we can only be patient, and persevere, and hang on with intense passion to the hope that tomorrow comes, and weve got another day to be unbelievably joyful at breathing and living and being with those we love and who love us...Thats the unbelievable I can hold onto, ya know?
