Reflecting on the dramatic re-emergency of the male saviour - TopicsExpress

Reflecting on the dramatic re-emergency of the male saviour mentality!. I am intrigued and often frustrated by the usual statement where are the men, involve men when we are in meetings about womens rights and gender equality. Actually these are often open meetings, and all are invited. I am struggling with the emerging male saviour mentality, which seems to negative the importance of womens self agency, womens own empowerment and voice; and have a singular focus on MALE INVOLVEMENT. I prefer to advance the male responsibility perspective. I like to focus on re-socialisation of boys for respect of human rights for all, treating women and girls with dignity and lifting the best in each one of us in society. This resocialisation is a responsibility of both parents (where available), and not just women ~ for often women are blamed for how they raised the boys. I am still wondering, why each day we hear of the 39,000 girls forced into marriage; and not necessarily about the 39,000 men who are marrying these girls, often committing a crime. Where are the 39,000 fathers or uncles of these girls who often given them away in marriage (and equally the older women who simply bow to tradition). I hear people complain why few men are attending the meetings discussing gender equality, and yet these are open meetings which all are invited. I often get confused with the words men are not involved, and I wonder where they are not involved. Men are the majority of heads of states, in parliament; in board rooms, chiefs, religious leaders, everywhere! So where are they NOT involved. I just want men to be responsible, and accountable. Men should simple make the right decisions that advance the rights and dignity for all, women and men, girls and boys. Best wishes to all attending the Dilli conference. Its All About RESPONSIBILITY & RESPECT. My thoughts to the 2nd Global Symposium on MenEngage.... menengagedilli2014.net/
