Reflection: I keep this photo as a reminder that kids need time to think. This is Gabriella sitting in our back yard, taking some time out for herself. It was just her and I at home this day and I had been looking for her throughout the house. I found her outside sitting on the wall...by herself. She is covering her face but prior to this she was just sitting there, enjoying the day. Our neighbors dog Barney stuck his head up above the wall to say HELLO to her and she had returned the greeting with an enthusiastic rub to his ears. Then she sat back down...lol. I sat in the kitchen and simply obseved her...She has been through quite a bit in these previous months. Its hard not to recognize her tenderness. She has friends that she knows will never celebrate another sunny day, she has friends that support her every move ( Mckenzie and Kiley) and she has brothers who never let her forget that shes still the youngest (and smallest) sibling. On this day though, she simply communed with the birds, the fresh air and the fall leaves. (Smile) It reminds me that Jen and I are successful in our commitment to her spirit. We know shes tough...We know she must not bear the full TRUTH of her plight. ..We KNOW that friends and family have provided when we could not...We know that she will WIN this battle...and WE KNOW there is still more to come. Children are children (with the hearts and souls of lions), but even a lioness must stop, go sit on a wall, read the winds, play with the leaves and smell the earth. Its what makes any day ... a great day! Thank you all for sharing in our fight. (Smile !!!)
