Reflection for this sunday ( 13th sunday Ordinary Times) The gospel for this Sunday speaks about invitation to discipleship and resoluteness/ determination in following the Lord. Jesus met three persons who wanted to follow him. they have one thing in common. all of them have their conditions and reasons.They want to follow him but they have their own bargains, their conditions. There can be no doubt we all have the desire to be followers of Jesus. There is no question that we want to be in his company. However, desire is not at all sufficient. One must make a resolution; a firm decision to do what it takes which includes detachments to some things or someone that can be obstacles in realizing this desire. Christian life is not an easy one. It is not “ a walk in the park”. It has its demands and cost. There are many who wish to be followers of Christ. However, many also do not want to make sacrifices and pay the cost. This is where the saying becomes true: “The men will be separated from the boys”. Those who became his disciples were those who were willing to pay the price of discipleship. They are those who decided to let go of their attachments. Is this the reason why there were only few disciples of Jesus?
