Reflections: A young disciple, Simon Peter, accurately identified who Jesus was, but unfortunately also rebuked the Messiah for his willingness to die on a cross. Peter proclaimed his own spiritual superiority when he said: Everyone may stumble, but I will not, before denying Jesus that very night, three times. He also failed to discern the sovereignty of Christs arrest in the garden and whacked off a soldiers ear in a valiant but misguided attempt to defend his Lord. And yet, Jesus did not give up on Peter. Its the story of my life and probably yours. We see revelation one minute and are deceived the next. We have wilted in a moment of crisis, giving into fear instead of faith. And we have moved with great passion but not wisdom in our efforts to follow Him. But the real story is not about me or you, its about Jesus! Only He would forgive such blunders or put trust in such feeble hands or minds. And one day, every knee will bow and every tongue will confess that He is the Lord.
