Reflections Planning for my trip to Sri Lanka in December 2013 to do a study in a sector where vices are prevalent. Also to keep my promise to a gentleman wherein I said I will come and watch him at work - He is an undertaker who works in the crematorium and he was excited. I was thinking of matyrs who died for a cause and Jim Elliot came to my mind, I first got to know about him when Scott Wesley Brown was my vocal coach in the then Continental Singers. Jim Elliot died at the age of 29 in 1956 along with 4 others when they tried to reach out to the Waodani people in Ecuador. My favourite quote, " He is no fool who gives what he cannot keep to gain what he cannot lose" are words that places heaviness in my heart. A sense of stewardship to a higher call. As I sat with my girls, we discussed of the importance of walking the talk and being an accurate representation of Christ. Is it easy, it is , when you die to "self" and allow God to fashion you. After all who knows our tomorrow better than God in whom time lies. Always awed by matyrs who died for a cause and who count it not a sacrifice but a decision. Taking into consideration the Cross. We call it the sacrifice, but I prefer to look at it as a concrete decision and plan by God to act for man.
