Reflections of a good...good man. Dr. Russell Reynolds There have been so many wonderful posts made today by friends and family. All with the common thread...Dr. Reynolds was a good...good man. I gained a lot of respect over the last couple of years not by being his friend...but by watching and even being a part of his actions. Soon after we opened Russell and Sherry not only became weekend regulars but also our friends. They would always park across the street and most often walk hand in hand to the door. Everytime...and I mean every time I would open the door for them I was immediately met with a handshake, a how are you doing and an are you going to play the piano for me tonight. That I will always miss. I love our customers; both new and old, and the conversations and relationships we have with all of them. It did not take long for us to learn Dr. Reynolds passions. A devoted christian was easy to pick up on. The love and admiration he had for Sherry and the pride and affection he had for his children were also seen right away. Sometimes they would come by themselves; but more times than not it was with one or both kids or some of their friends. And when they came it wasnt to eat supper and leave, it was to genuinely enjoy the company of each other or those they were with. What is a normal 45 minute experience at Katys for most was never less than an hour and a half; usually longer. As a bystander it was always evident of his genuine spirit to those he was with. As many of you may remember, we came within hours of losing Jami with her sudden onset of meningitis back in January of this year. Being young and being scared the words of others meant the world to both of us. But the actions of some have stuck with us and always will. I soon got a call from Sherry asking how things were and if we needed anything. The answer was simple...just pray. Soon after that call, in walks Dr. Reynolds and Sherry in to Jamis hospital room. Their presence meant the world to us but they left Jami with a gift; a hand made prayer blanket that had been prayed over by the people of FBC Comanche. After they left we were brought to tears by their love and friendship and it was right then that we knew how special the Reynolds are. My mother has been gone 14 years now as of yesterday. What makes it more bearable as time moves forward is the legacy that she left...a legacy that not only her family remembers but one that those who loved her as well continue to remind us of every day...even after all these years. It is evident that Dr. Reynolds has left a legacy. With his family, his church, his community, his patients and even two young people trying their hand at owning a steakhouse; his mark has been made and will be cherished and remembered forever. Thank you Dr. Reynolds for your christian example, the example you set as a husband and father, your care for your patients and the devotion you had for your community. You will be missed setting at our dinner table but will be remembered forever! So Dr. Reynolds...heres a song for you tonight... May God bless Comanche and may the peace that comes with Gods promise comfort the Reynolds family... Clint, Jami, Carter & Parker Tunnell
