Reflections on my 1st marathon finish: 1. It takes a strong team - TopicsExpress

Reflections on my 1st marathon finish: 1. It takes a strong team to run 26.2 miles...my Pink Nation coaches, fellow runners, the other MTT coaches and friends and loved ones...they all contributed to the fact that I got across that finish line. 2. You control what you can, and what you cant, you must let go of. I couldnt control the blistering cold, or the cramping in my legs that had me on the ground and in tears off and on between 20 and 26.2. I did what I could and crossed the line... 3. Its okay to cry...when it hurts, when its cold, when you finally see that end point and know you are going to make it...and when you finally fall into your friends arms at the end and hear I am SO proud of you 4. The mental game is just as important as the physical. 5. Salt, salt and more salt. Eat more of it in the days leading up to it and eat it during. 6. Sometimes you dont know youve chafed somewhere until the shower water hits you (OUCH!) All in all, I believe that I accomplished something great today. I will live to run another day and must capture the time I want (someday)...
