Refuse the tests? Absolutely. In fact, the better question to ask is, “Why would parents ask their children to take the tests?” Refusals do not cause a school to lose funding and students who refuse do not receive a score of zero, they are simply coded as a “refusal”. With this, it follows that a refusal does not impact the classroom teacher’s evaluation, nor will a refusal affect the academic program offered to the student.
