Regarding IREAD some year: Jessica Wright Hoover: Thank you for the update. I totally do not agree with moving it to grade 2! I teach 2nd grade and they need to have their classroom time dedicated to the fundamentals, not to take a statewide test and be pressured. And, where would the funding come from to move the test or to provide remediation to those in need as a 2nd grader or the 3rd grader that failed it in gr. 2? Its no where. We have had to solve this by putting 4th graders that failed IREAD 3 but got to move to grade 4, in a 3rd grade room for reading. Talk about humiliation of that student! Thats exactly what could happen to those students. Frustrating! I have sent my email opposing this and my reasons. Thanks for your update.
