My Godmother, for example… We were shopping and there was a mixed race couple with a little girl in the shopping center. My Godmother leaned over and said, I dont have a problem with that, but I feel so sorry for their children. Literally as shes saying this racist bull shit, the father leans over and talks softly to his daughter, kissing her on the head once their conversation is completed. My only response, Yeah, well. Shes obviously very well loved. Unfortunately, her biggest problem in life will be people like you. My Godmother, you see, is not OVERTLY racist. But she does have these antiquated and VERY racist notions. They serve as a constant reminder of what NOT to be. So, in actuality, I learn from her ignorance, and am a better person for it.
