Regarding all the calls for a Convention of the States (actually that would be a full-blown amendments convention, with no control by anyone who actually wants it called, but Congress, which appoints the Delegates, and who then have the control of ALL rules), there are actually people who support a Con-Con who openly say they do not want to change the Constitution, but merely amend it. Amending changes it. All one has to do is look at the original way the Senate was to be comprised, and what the 17th Amendment actually did. We NOW have TWO houses of representatives - the so-called peoples house was to be the House of Reps, elected at large by the PEOPLE, while the STATE representatives [the Senate] were to be APPOINTED by the STATE legislatures - that is what it says in the US Constitution. Yet the 17th amendment ACTUALLY, IN FACT, regardless of ones good intentions, changed the US Constitution. The road to hell is paved with good intentions.
