Regarding hunting… Quoted from: biblehub/genesis/1-26.htm The Sixth Day: Creatures on Land …25God made the beasts of the earth after their kind, and the cattle after their kind, and everything that creeps on the ground after its kind; and God saw that it was good. 26Then God said, Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; and let them rule over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the sky and over the cattle and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth. 27God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.… “Let them rule”… That is the part that concerns me. “Let them rule”. As an atheist, this should be meaningless, but as a person who lives in a world largely ruled by religion (mostly Christianity) I find this interesting. Another translation gives man (humankind) “dominion” over all the beasts… But what does that mean? I met a strange man once who did not live so much in the world we share… his friends were animals. He avoided human contact. He claimed that there was a mistranslation… he felt that man was charged with the care of all of the animals… Man is supposed to be a servant, here to help all animals. According to God’s Word… I understand hunting on many levels. But I question, at this point, the harm that can be done to the genetics and biodiversity of these species. The numbers are growing small. Perhaps it may be to the benefit of all who live and all who will live in the future to allow more of certain species to survive and procreate. Furthermore, what is ultimately gained through the death of these wild animals? What is lost? Before you go hunting, think about the global impact you will make on the universe… for eternity. Without a sense of belief in the eternal existence of humankind, we cannot finish the day… and it all depends on the survival of that which is “wild”… in ways you cannot imagine. Consider the eventual results of every action, throughout the universe for all eternity. Then you will find peace. And you will know yourself. And you will know God. And death will hold no mystery. Upon this understanding, you will live in harmony with all that will come. You will feel peace. You will make a life that is right. A life worth living.
