Regarding my last post about that modern art that was sold for $44 million. Its not that I dont like modern art. Im sure if I had a big enough space like a big loft apartment or something Id have something like that hanging on the walls!! It can look amazing in the right space. Hell... Ive even painted a few modern pieces myself over the years. Examples shown: 10 years ago there used to be a hairdressers just round the corner from where we lived and at night they had blinds pulled down in the upstairs windows. The spotlights behind these windows created a pattern that always had me thinking ooh that would look great on a canvas!! ...so one day I snapped a photo on my phone, and shortly after went to work and painted two big canvases of my own. These are still up in our hallway here at home!! No, the thing that annoys me is the fine art bollocks speak that they come out with.. where they give more meaning to something than actually exists. This is what they said about that blue canvas in the last post: Newman overwhelms and seduces the viewer with the totality of its sensual, cascading washes of vibrant blue coexisting with Newman’s vertical “Sign” of the human presence, his iconic and revolutionary “zip.” It was a blue canvas with a white stripe. I mean.. seriously. But I like how it LOOKS. I just dont think every piece of art has to have some deep meaning. Sometimes things just look nice. I was just joking that maybe I should do my commissions for more than £150 and maybe a bit closer to $44 million ;)
