Regarding the Q&A Session last night John Smith wrote: No shortage of ideas and no shortage of volunteers. Do we need to petition the BOD to get this committee up and running? How do we get the BOD and staff to realize this can no longer sit on the back burner and we dont want to wait for a later date? First I will say that in my humble opinion this renewed sense of community involvement is due largely because of Dennis and Lisa Verhagen starting this Facebook group and getting the community to speak up and participate. Because of this I have meet many people here that have been very involved in our community for years and years that have some great ideas that did not come to fruition and I have heard the frustration and anger towards the BOD and HOA from many people. Like them, love them or hate them, the current BoD is who we have right now. Lets focus on common ground so we can help them help us in making our community more informed, safer and have more programs for kids. That in no way covers everything but those are recurring items I see talked about the most. I am purposely leaving out things like the median project, contracts, budgets and other hot bed topics of how our money is used. That I am sure can and will be better addressed by someone with more knowledge and expertise then myself. My belief is (as new kid on the block, 5 years) doing our best to do what it takes to get the job done is priority number one. We will not effect change overnight. Stay involved continue attending the meetings and encourage people to get involved. If the only thing we do is focus on what is not happening right now instead of how do we go about changing things in the future then we will only be frustrated and not accomplish much. Everyone has something to contribute to our community be it starting a citizens group, volunteering to organize more activities for kids or even people who will stay on top of legal issues if it comes to that. Everyone can help. Get to know our neighbors and the people that live in our community. There are lots of people that want different things but what I am getting from all this is there are also people willing to volunteer in whatever capacity fits them. Small community and lots of volunteers make for an even better place to live. my 2 cents
