Regarding the rally: The rain sucked, of course, but I was relatively disappointed with the nature of the rally itself as well. I was hoping for something more intense, radical, and energized, something like the protest against fracking I went to in Baltimore last spring. Sadly, there were not many young people, and the majority of the rally was older women in lawn chairs- not that theres anything wrong with older women in lawn chairs, but I overhead a woman saying that the turn-out was the same (if not less) than it was in 2002. Those are depressing numbers. I feel that a better organized event would have stirred up a lot more action. Regardless, its vital to womens equality that the ERA is ratified. I think that this issue is so basic, so obviously necessary, that a lot of people forget its an issue at all. But despite all this, I enjoyed the trip, Union Station, and my day overall.
