Regarding the recent post about men dying 20% more of the time in the workplace than women because they are disproportionately placed in dangerous career fields(police, firefighters, coal miners, construction workers, utility workers, etc). Men are more disproportionate here because many of these jobs typically require a great deal of physical labor and strength, both of which many men possess. It doesnt mean women cant do these jobs, it just means there are jobs out there that are simply more suitable to men. However it goes both ways, there are jobs that women seem to excell more at than men. This by no means should convey at all that women should sit behind some desk all day or hold any other dead end job. Society is not screwing or oppressing women because not many women hold these jobs, its just many women are not able to overcome the physical limitations that these jobs present. Thats not a knock on women at all, somethings you just cant control, physical limitations are definitely one of them. For example, say in a training exercise a firefighter is required to bust a heavy door down with a 50 pound ax within 10 seconds to save the subject. I guarantee you that a 62 240 pound man will get through the door faster than a 510 160 pound woman, thus making the male a better candidate for the job. It is just simply impossible for a woman to compete with a man for when it comes to physical strength. Dont think society is screwing you over when you dont get a job, just realize there is someone who does it better and either quit complaining and get better or find another career.
