Regarding the upcoming mall near Leratong hospital I have engaged the Executive Mayor and his people wanting to know how local people are going to benefit or are we going to continue to be just consumers who are milked by people from outside. People who would not even shake our hands or have a cup of tea with us, people who would not even support local establishments or have an office or property where they trade thus boosting local economy by spending there. So I was told the deal with the developers is that local people are going to be given opportunities or preferences to own outlets so they can be economically empowered too. So I went all out, engaged government entities and successfully established possible funding for local people to have a stake in that mall. Now the frustrating trick is franchises like KFC and others as I was told are applying arrogant bullying tactics of wanting to bring their own people who are not immediate citizens and further insulting local people. So Baagi we are at that stage where we will have to apply the old tactic that we used during apartheid, control our buying power so we can keep capitalists out and let local people taste economic freedom e bolelwang....... I am registering my concern and propose that we unite and radically seize our local economy.
