Regina our child health nurse talks about ‘Cradle Cap’: Cradle Cap is a form of dermatitis that affects babies in the first few months of life. Your baby’s scalp may look flaky, dry with yellow crusts. It is thought that babies have high levels of maternal hormone in their bodies for several weeks to months after birth and these hormones can cause enlarging of the glands & more sebum causing Cradle Cap. Mild Cradle Cap can be treated with baby oil & massaging the scalp with a soft baby brush to loosen the crusts. Mild anti-dandruff shampoos can also be used. For more information about Cradle Cap or any other concern you are having with your new born then come down to Eatons Hill Pharmacy on Monday’s from 9.00am-11.30am. It’s free & no appointments are required.
