Regional Arts Council Seeks Board Members! APRIL 30 DEADLINE Volunteering for just one evening a month can have a significant impact on the arts in our East Central Minnesota five county region? Its true! Just one evening-and especially if that evening is spent serving on the board of directors of the East Central Regional Arts Council. ECRAC is the primary funding source for artists and arts organizations in Chisago, Isanti, Kanabec, Mille Lacs, and Pine counties. In the last fiscal year, for instance, the ECRAC awarded over $300,000 in grants to advance the arts and artists in our region through its five grant programs for regional non-profit arts organizations and three grant programs for regional artists. As a board member you would be instrumental in helping ensure those funds go to the individual artists and arts agencies that are most deserving. Moreover, that one evening a month you give will help ensure all the residents of our region have access to high quality artistic experiences. ECRAC offers grants and technical assistance to individual artists and non-profit arts organizations who reside in the five counties which make up the East Central Minnesota Region: Chisago, Isanti, Kanabec, Mille Lacs, and Pine. The ECRAC is an independent 501c3 organization. Beyond the rewards of helping the arts in Region 7E, serving on the board provides a prime opportunity to learn about arts activities in the region, to increase knowledge of grant writing and the review process, to network with other artists and arts professionals, and to have input into matters that directly affect arts funding in the region. What is your strength? Visual art? Music? Dance? Arts advocacy? The ECRAC welcomes them all! Applications are invited from individuals living in Chisago, Isanti, Kanabec, Mille Lacs and Pine counties who have knowledge of a variety of art forms and perspectives. Active artists working in all discipline, artists from communities of color, arts supporters/collectors, or individuals with knowledge of the regional arts community and arts organizations are all encouraged to apply. The ECRAC board of directors meets at the ECRAC Braham office just one evening a month (the third Tuesday). At the monthly meetings the council members do a variety things including reviewing grants to award project-based funding and individual artist grants. Members also assess the art needs in the region and develop programs that stimulate the regional arts community. Council members serve as volunteers but are paid a mileage reimbursement for attending meetings and grant funded art events. Applying to be an ECRAC board member is a quick and easy process and your willingness to serve on the board is much valued. The deadline for submitting an application is coming up quickly--April 30, 2014. Interested individuals may contact the ECRAC office to receive a nomination form (you can nominate yourself or another person) call 320.496.2337 or email [email protected] You can also find the form online at: tinyurl/ecracnom
