Regional meeting in Amman - civil society to promote the Arab Peace Initiative Last weekend I participated ina regional meeting in Amman on promoting the Arab peace initiative. The meeting was held as part of a long-term Ajeec - Nisped Institute operates with the palestinian org. CDCD and PaxChristi Dutch with the support the EU. Session key activists took part in a number of countries in the Middle East, including Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, Palestine, Israel and the Syrian opposition activists. Also at the meeting was attended by representatives of the UN, the EU and experts in the international arena. We can say with certainty that there is a dedicated network of organizations and individuals from civil society in the Middle East committed to promote the Arab Peace Initiative as the basis for a regional solution in the Middle East, a solution in which Israel will become a real part of the area in which it is located. Meetings like this and dialogue can brainstorm about ways to continue promoting joint Arab initiative at the level of civil society, regional political level and at the international level. Position paper with ideas and recommendations for further promotion of the initiative will be published in the near future as the product of the encounter. There is no doubt that there is still much work ahead of us, especially among public opinion and governments in Israel. With this sense of partnership with regional factors contributing to our great commitment to continue promoting the initiative as a solution to the Middle East region. Mully Dor
