Regional planning efforts are destroying the US Constitution system of government which designed a system where most of the power was meant to be in the hands of local governments and the people. Sustainable development policies are forcing future growth in to high density housing near mass transit with limited development in suburban and rural areas. This is happening all around the country but is particularily critical in California with Plan Bay Area the classic example of top down central planning that is destroying property rights in the US.
