Registration is underway for the new Xtreme Karate course in South Plains College’s Physical Education Department. Classes for all age groups and skill levels will be available throughout the year. The classes will meet in the Law Enforcement Building in Room 106. The course will focus partially on the tradition and discipline of Shotokan Karate. The basic movements (block, strikes and stances), the kata and the belt ranking will stem from this style. In the defensive tactics and combat training classes, the course will focus more specifically with street-level martial art combat such as Krav Maga and the Special Combat Aggressive Reactionary System which is used today by the U.S. Navy Seals.
