As we mourn the lost, lets begin to turn the hate towards mental illness, depression and isolation, for these are the common threads that bind together the killers. Look within your community and find the organizations dedicated to healing mental illness and support their work. Donate your time and money towards these causes just as you would cancer and hunger. Treat mental illness and depression for the tragedy that it is before it becomes more of the tragedy that we have seen today. I am heartbroken for the families who have lost their loved ones to murder, and I am also heartbroken for the families who have lost their loved ones to mental illness.
