Rehabilitation of P365-M Iloilo-Capiz road underway August 14, 2013, Wednesday The rehabilitation of the 28-km national road from Cabatuan to Calinog towns in Iloilo has started Monday, the Dept. of Public Works and Highways said. Engr. Nilo Gavia of the Iloilo 2nd Engineering District gave an update on the project during his courtesy visit to Gov. Arthur Defensor Sr. Tuesday. Gavia informed the governor that the P365.8-million road project, expected to be completed after a year, is being constructed by the joint venture of International Builders Corp. and A.M. Oreta Construction. Once finished, Gavia said travelling to and from this province via the Iloilo-Capiz national road will be much more convenient. Based on its program of works, the 27.01 kilometers will undergo asphalt overlay while the remaining one kilometer will be reconstructed. The project will also cover the improvement of existing shoulder (1.5m-3.0m in width) and removal of existing deteriorated asphalt on top of the slab of the existing eight bridges in the Iloilo Third District areas (50mm thick) prior to asphalt overlay. The repair of selected sections of the deteriorated asphalt-concrete pavement by potholes patching and repair of distressed pavement by sealing the cracks before the asphalt overlay (50mm-80mm thick) will also be done. There will also be application of pavement markings and installation of signages and other miscellaneous works.(PNA)
