Rehashing some old White Nation arguments here: #Iwillridewithyou reminds me of the old French anti-racist slogan touche pas a mon pote (dont touch my mate) of SOS racisme. Like it, it is good in so far as it is a transitional anti-racist movement. That is, ultimately, the racialised dont want to be dependent on the good will of others to feel safe. This is not to rob the people engaging in it of any of the value of their good will and the nobility of their intentions. Whats more relations of protection can develop into egalitarian relations of friendship and more. But they can also reproduce themselves into relations of protection... When it comes to migrants (and its different with indigenous people) White Australians have never had any problem being nice, friendly and helpful to others when they are classified as passive others in need of help. Plenty of migrant stories from the late nineteenth and well into the twentieth century attest to this. But these same stories also attest to the fact that White Australian ressentiment kicks in pretty quickly when those migrant others start being confident enough economically, socially and politically to stand on their own two feet, and see themselves as equally entitled to the land as the White Australians.
