Reiki is a common noun in Japan. Reiki is NOT a special word. Usui Sensei is NOT the only one who use the word Reiki. The word Reiki is ancient. Reiki Ryoho (Healing Art/Method) which we all practice as Reiki practitioners is NOT ancient. As Reiki Teachers and authors of Reiki books, we have a great responsibility to speak the truth. This is the Reiki way of doing things. We strive to live a happy and healthy life by practicing Reiki Ryoho guided by Reiki Precepts. To simplify things, we simply say Reiki instead of Reiki Ryoho. What is Reiki ?  靈氣-霊気-レイキ-REIKI Reiki is a Japanese term. 【霊】Rei means something miraculous, ethereal, transcendental and sacred. 【氣 】Ki means the energy of the universe. The Japanese words “霊氣 Reiki can be defined as a miraculous/mysterious, ethereal, transcendental and sacred energy of the universe, which sustains all life.
